Coming over the bridge to the island, visitors and residents are treated to the sight of Padgett Garden: blooming flowers and shrubs, the waterfall, the gravel walkway with benches. We all love the entrance to our island. Besides Padgett Garden, flowers bloom in front of Town Hall, Pocket Park welcomes weary walkers and bikers and other garden spots on the island are cared for by the Holden Beach Beautification Club.
Every year, the Club hosts a big Plant Sale to raise funds for the purchase of flowers, shrubs and other landscaping needs on the island and at the foot of the bridge. However, this year the Plant Sale (our largest fundraiser) had to be canceled. Every year we solicit donations, but this year we need your help to make up the shortfall. Property Owners received a flier in their April water bill soliciting donations, but anyone who loves Holden Beach can make a donation. If you would like to mail us a donation please send it to HBBC Treasurer, 125 Durham Street, Holden Beach, NC 28462 or you can make a donation online via PayPal by clicking here. PayPal accepts major credit cards.
We know times are tough for many families and that makes this year’s donations even more appreciated. We recognize our donors on our website here, but the most meaningful recognition is seeing beautiful gardens when you visit the island. We hope to see you soon!
