The Holden Beach Beautification Club is prepping for springtime. The spent annuals have been removed from Padgett Garden, The Boat, Butterfly Garden, the beds along Jordan Boulevard, and Town Hall.
Pocket Park, at 628 OBW, has received some special attention from “The Undertakers” as they call themselves. Two dead trees and their roots were removed and as well as a diseased Eastern Red Cedar. The ornamental birdhouses were removed from posts to be repainted. This small gem of a park is a favorite with walkers and bikers as it offers a viewing deck with seating that overlooks the marsh. It is a difficult park to manage because it also serves as a floodway during storms which leads to lots of saltwater on the plants.
The new plants are on order from local nurseries for all the gardens and beds around Town. They will be installed in March or early April (depending on plant availability) followed by mulching.
