Welcome to the
Holden Beach Beautification Club
The Holden Beach Beautification Club designs and plants public gardens on the island and has a working relationship with the town in creating and maintaining these projects.
The objectives of the HBBC are:
- To encourage environmental improvements on the island of Holden Beach through beautification, restoration, and the protection and conservation of our natural resources.
- To provide a non-profit, philanthropic and educational association for the members.
- To study the art of gardening and to cooperate with the entities furthering such interest.
Membership: Membership is open to anyone who owns property on Holden Beach or who lives full-time on the island. If you are interested in attending a meeting, please email us. There are currently 60 members and two honorary members.
Meetings: The club meets monthly from September through May on the second Wednesday of the month at 1:00pm unless otherwise noted. Meetings are held at the Holden Beach Chapel with the exception of some field trips or the May Social.
About: The Holden Beach Beautification Club was founded August 15, 1990, organized February 10, 1993, and federated September 15, 2011. The club bird is the Heron, the club flower is the Oleander (Nerium oleander) and the club tree is the Windmill Palm (Trachycarpus fortune). The Club’s logo below incorporating these aspects was created by member Cecelia Weston.

Hi. I’m new to Holden Beach and need to plant a new lawn. Can someone tell me what the name of the common grass is here? It is coarse, kind of grows in spots allowing some sand to show?
